Lars Mikkelsen-3-1024x657Lars Dittmann Mikkelsen (born 6 May 1964) is a Danish actor. He has played Copenhagen mayoral candidate Troels Hartmann in the drama series The Killing,[1] Charles Augustus Magnussen in the third season of Sherlock and the Russian president Viktor Petrov in the American House of Cards on Netflix as well as Grand Admiral Thrawn in Star Wars Rebels. He was awarded the Reumert Prize of Honour in 2011, at the age of 27. In 1995, he graduated to the National Theatre School of Denmark. In addition to his part in The Killing, [1] He also appeared on Borgen III, a Danish drama series that was highly regarded. He also played a pivotal role in an episode of BBC drama Sherlock in which he played blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. In the American TV show House of Cards he played the president of Russia. In 2018, he was awarded an International Emmy Award for his performance in the Danish TV drama Herrensveje. The show aired in the UK as Ride Upon the Storm in 2019.
