
Julie London (nee Peck; September 26 1926 - 18 October, 2000) was an American actor and singer whose career spanned more than 40 years. A torch singer noted for her gorgeous, sultry contralto voice, London recorded over thirty albums of jazz and pop standards between 1955 between 1955 and 1969. Her debut album "Cry Me a River", which she recorded was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2001. London was also nominated in 1974 for the Golden Globe Award for her role in the role of Dixie McCall, a nurse on the television show Emergency! London was born in Santa Rosa, California to vaudevillian parents. Her acting career in Los Angeles as an actress. London's 35 year acting career began with film in 1944. It included roles as the female lead role in numerous westerns. In the middle of the 1950s, she signed a recording deal with Liberty Records. This was the beginning of her professional music career. In 1969 she released her final studio album. But she was an actor on the Emergency series as Dixie McCall, a female nurse. (1972-1979) She starred with her husband Bobby Troup. Jack Webb produced the show.
