Lee Roy Selmon's existence includes football scholarship, family service and community involvement. He is the youngest child of Lucious Selmon and Jessie Selmon. They took care of him at their farm in Eufala. The Selmons were also among the three siblings who represented Oklahoma in football. The three brothers were all All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey was one of the starters for the entire 1973 season. Lee Roy received the Outland & Lombardi Awards for being the top lineman from the USA. He won two championships and the score was 32-1-1 over his three seasons as Oklahoma's starter. The third scholarship was awarded to him. He was an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon earned a degree as an educator. Lee Roy spent ten hours every week in volunteer work during his college years. In Tampa where he played, he joined the Buccaneers for nine seasons, and eventually became an all-pro. Additionally, he started his career in the field of business. He was an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked on the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as a member of the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 The Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as one of the Ten of America's top young men. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs in the time he played football at college. The year 1975 was the first time he was the captain of the squad. He joined University of South Florida in 1993, as Associate Director of Sports. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame was named for him as a member in the year the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame In 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame In 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded its Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon, Jr. The award was presented by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
